Paper Cranes in the Warmth: Kateryna Osadcha and Her Foundation Visit Our Hubs

On February 5th, Kateryna Osadcha personally told her followers about our hubs — and invited everyone to come to Troieshchyna and Brovary. "A large part of Kyiv's left bank still has no heat. Together with our partners @uhi.ua and @dobrobat.in.ua, we've set up two family spaces where people can warm up, have tea, charge their devices, and let kids play," she wrote.

And on February 13th, the Kateryna Osadcha Foundation came to our hubs with origami workshops — and the spaces truly came alive.

What happened

Families who come to us because of power cuts and cold weather got a few hours to breathe and step away from the daily hardship. Kids folded paper cranes. Parents sat beside them. And the hubs felt warm — not just from the heaters.

Mariia Danaeva came to the workshop. She takes care of two great-grandchildren — boys aged 4 and 6 — after her granddaughter went missing when the full-scale war began. "Here the boys could rest and get distracted. And I felt calm, knowing they were safe," she said.

Serhii Didenko also joined — a foster father raising 10 children in a family-type orphanage. After the workshop, he said origami would become their tradition for dark evenings.

And there was a surprise guest: RukhankoMen @rukhankoman, known for his dance tracks, turns out loves folding paper cranes. Kids danced, laughed, and folded birds to his music — all at the same time.
