As part of the Mobile World Congress 2026, the Ukrainian Humanitarian Initiative (UHI) team held a series of meetings and consultations with representatives of the global Giga initiative (a joint project of UNICEF and ITU) .
We at UHI officially declare our full support for Giga's ideology and technical approaches. For us, this is not just a partnership, but an opportunity to introduce global standards of transparency and quality of digital infrastructure in Ukraine.
Why the Giga approach is a priority for UHI:
Map & Monitor: We share Giga’s approach to the need for real-time monitoring of internet speeds in every school. UHI is ready to become an operational partner to collect “Ground Truth” data on the ground.
Standardization: The implementation of unified Giga protocols will allow Ukraine to avoid fragmented infrastructure development and create a sustainable network that meets the requirements of 2030.
Funding Transparency: Using Giga models makes the process of connecting schools clear to international donors, which is critical for attracting investment in recovery.
Our vision for collaboration: UHI aims to serve as a key implementation partner of the Giga initiative in Ukraine, combining our local expertise and logistical capabilities with the innovative methodology of UNICEF and ITU. We believe that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the right to quality connectivity with the world.
